Several studies and quantisation tables estimating construction and demolition (C&D) waste, both regionally and on a smaller scale and in different types of buildings, are given. The difficulties and importance of obtaining a greater knowledge of CW from the initial conception of the project are discussed.

In Spain, for example, the two documents which constitute the estimate are differentiated according to a National Decree (Spanish Government – Ministry of the Presidency, 2008).
