The Uptown. Any stores you wanted. Grocery store, drug store, all that. There was a school on each corner. There was a library right across the street. Post o≈ce a couple blocks away. A bank . . [The house] was two blocks from the train station, and she had used that going back and forth to Milwaukee at di√erent times.

She was in a neighborhood garden club or whatever for some years. And the altar guild in church. Those kinds of things she liked to do. And she liked to entertain small groups at a time.
